at the Nordic Art Agency

on Saturday 22nd July, 12:00 - 16:00

Three international female artists have been selected to create a very unique exhibition with a simple, neutral pallet and the principle materials being clay, ink and paper.

Moulding, folding and the handwritten are all element which draw these artists together. The physical quality of each artist is felt through the intimacy experienced through their process.

Belgium artist Daisy Boman has a long established international career as a ceramicist and artist working with her clay Bo-men who feature in all her free standing sculpture and works on panel. Each figure is unique, though uniformed, characterising the individual and group, emerging in narratives created through Daisy’s playful yet powerful observations and compositions.

Caroline Attan is a British artist whose works can be found in private collections all over the world and combines intricate handfolded paper with the handwritten word. Latin American poetry forms part of the work selected from writers including Coral Bracho, Juan Luis Martinez, Elikura Chihuailaf, Pablo Neruda and Octavio Paz. The works are unsettling and exhilarating in their complexity. The sequence of hand written narrative is partially obscured by the folded paper forms as words and phrases pop out intermittently. Some of the work use coloured, folded shapes weaving complex and dynamic patterns, bright colours contrast with subtle tones and darker hues, illuminating the possibility of multiple futures.

British artist Jenniffer Idrizi is currently has her studio in Sweden and is a multidisciplinary artist and designer. For this exhibition she has created a series of works on paper with ink. Jennifer works with a variety of media depending on the modus of the project. Her work often explores the balance between order/chaos, nature/culture and control/freedom.

The works created for the exhibition are a response to a series of instructions she creates around her process. These then evolve into spontaneously- controlled compositions, embracing the freedom of execution and exploration.
