Marta Lafuente

Marta has an artist's spirit which is profoundly felt in her presence as a person & in her work. The energy found in her mixed media works, embracing both painting & photography, resonates joy, life, memory & motherhood. It was these subtle, yet powerful qualities which led us to invite her to join the agency.

I still do not know at what moment I started to dedicate myself to this profession, or what were the reasons that pushed me to do it.

I frequently consider the problem of time and reflect upon this in my work. It is inevitable to contemplate what Jorge Luís Borges wrote about time, “the fugitive, the evanescent, the succession; If each particle of the present is formed by a particle of the future and another of the past, the memory will be in charge of recovering that ungraspable and vertiginous substance that is in perpetual motion.”

In 2003 I began to work on a series of portraits with childhood as a backdrop and always related to memory and forgetfulness. And I'm still working on it ..

- Marta Lafuente

Her development as an artist has already seen several stages, working with mixed techniques on paperboard, paper or wood, illustrating books published by Lumen & Random House & creating some exquisite award winning short animated films of her sketches.  Her work is consistent, beautifully executed & elegantly composed & has been exhibited extensively in Spain & the US. We are proud to represent Marta’s work exclusively in the Nordics and you can book a private view of her work at our Malmö gallery.
